DO WHAT YOU LOVE

If I could make a million dollars with a guy who causes my stomach to churn, I’d say … NOPE.

Jambo friends, a leader in one of my classes recently popped a question asking me what I would do to live a happier life if I could start all over again.

My response? I’ve held an enduring level of happiness for decades, but I was very quick to turn the focus back on my students by urging them to make better choices around career goals, finances, health, and relationships.

It’s the same advice I give my three sons, 2 in college and one at the gates of high school.

The way to do it is to play at the game and do some thing you enjoy all your life, be associated with people you like. Work with people you like. If I have a chance to make 1 million bucks with a guy who causes my stomach to turn then I would say NOPE.

I get to work in a job that I love, but I have always worked at a job that I loved. I loved it as much when I thought it was a big deal to knock on doors and make a few bucks.

To my three sons who may read this someday, I urge you to work in jobs that you love. I think you’re out of your mind if you keep taking jobs that you don’t like because you think it’ll look good on your résumé.

The biggest lesson I have learned since immigrating to the USA is Do what you love and stop working in dead end jobs with little pay and no purpose.

This seems to be the battle cry amongst leaders in this great reset in an associate driven economy.

I know I know … you may object because it’s easy to remark when you’re in a job that you love, at least for me, quite truthfully, I was already doing what I loved long before I became successful.

There are absolutely going to be risks involved in chasing work or a career that you love, however I implore you to consider the payoffs.

Here are 3 reasons you should commit to doing what you love.

1️⃣ You wake up in a negative world and make POSITIVITY louder.

2️⃣ People make you feel like you are a part of their unit, they make you feel like you belong there and couldn’t do it without you. At least that’s how my team and leaders make me feel and that’s God’s honest truth yo!

3️⃣ You’re actually doing things in life that you’re good at and simply exercising your strengths and skills to eliminate wasting precious time and energy chasing after things outside of your lane.

Would you add any?

When you love what you do, it just doesn’t feel like work!

Doing what you love is a major contributor to true happiness in life.

I absolutely love every day. I mean, I literally break dance out of bed and work with nothing but people that I love.

There is no job in the world that is more fun than being hand-picked to take care of those that are in your charge at The Home Depot.

I count myself lucky to be where I am, amongst a team, friends, associates, a great company, and most importantly our customers.

Do you do what you love?
